Ahh nice one. Im going to build a nice game system for my friend based on a i7+5850 for like 1200 euro’s. Here the specs:
CPU: i7860
CPUCOOLER: Corsair H50
MOBO: Gigabyte p55-ud4
GPU: HD5850
Ram: OCZ Reaper 4 gig 1800mhz ddr3
Case: antec 900
HDD: 2x Samsung F3 in raid0
PSU: Corsair HX850
and some fancontrollers+other fancy stuff

GTX 295 on average with the new drivers it got is 36% faster then the 4870 x2.

Depends on the game also.

Radeon 5870 is about 20-15% less powerful then the GTX 295 but that is because it is a single GPU and the GTX 295 is a dual. also depends.

the Radeon 5970 is 24% more powerful then the GTX 295.

so I mean there is only one card out on the planet that beats the GTX 295 wich is the Radeon 5970.

and its around $200 dollars more expensive then the GTX 295.

so you get what you pay for.

Your right nomad2243 the new 5970 x 2 on one board i watched that card run it’s is sick fast..

I do love the GTX295 card runs really well… but the 4870×2 is a bit passey…
Now personally i’m saving for a Sapphire 5970 2gigs DDR5 as my next card.

lolx,nomad 2243,i think u r a nvidia fan,actually,y u keep using gtx295 high end nvidia card compare wif ati mid end card??4870×2 shud compare wif gtx280,not gtx295,and u shud take 5970 vs gtx295,even 5970 is expensive than gtx295,because it does support dx11 and faster than 295,and it single card!!!Ati better than Nvidia is truth now!!

Why would I compare a dual Radeon GPU to a Single GTX 280.

GTX 280 vs Radeon 4870 = Nvidia win

GTX 295 vs Radeon 4870 x2 = Nividia win

the GTX 200 line was Nividias answer to the radeon 4000 line

the Nvidia GTX 300 line will be there awnser to Radeons 5000 line. I have no clue wich will be better.

we have nothing to compare the Radeon 5000 line to. of course a brand new GPU will be better then a Year old GTX 200 line card. I would find it shocking if the Radeon GPU wasn’t better.

Oh and…

Intel + ATI = win.

Intel is better then AMD.
